The Photo Traveler by @arthurjgonzalez My rating: 4 of 5 stars #SciFi #YA #ReviewShare

The Photo TravelerThe Photo Traveler by Arthur J. Gonzalez
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's easy to dislike time travel books with complicated plots and I've had my share of those where the author insists on creating a multi-layered plot but then falls short of pulling the reader in. The Photo Traveler does not fall into this category and I think the writing was simply excellent.

All I can say is - "Where's the sequel?" I thought the ideas was fantastic and every scene in the book will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will be given some clues to the ending along th way, a puzzle to piece together but rest assured you will have to be patient for Gonzalez to give you the answer.

If you love young adult science fiction with lots of excitement, a historical setting, and a dash of a love-triangle, this is your read. It's like junk food for your brain without all the abusive relationships of other young adult fiction. I definitely recommend giving this book a shot.

A 3rd Time to Die by George Bernstein @GeorgeBernstein #Romance #Paranormal #ReviewShare

A 3rd Time to DieA 3rd Time to Die by George Bernstein
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A 3rd Time to Die by George Bernstein was an entertaining, mysterious and addictive paranormal romance. It was so hard for me to stop reading this book and not get ahead of our weekly book club discussions. This book was impossible to put down once I started it.

I found myself drawn in by the completely engrossing characters & storyline. Sometimes it felt like the movie Groundhog Day. You are feeling the same emotions over and over again but not really understanding what is happening. If that happened to me, I don't think I would have reacted as well as the characters did.

Ashley and Craig were well fleshed out. As they got closer, the plot is filled with twists and turns, most of them unexpected. The author doesn't shy away from the fact that actions have consequences, some wounds take a long time to heal and some things can't be fixed. A reader can be easily moved to tears more than once, but you will also feel joy and hope at the end of the book.

You will find yourself becoming emotionally invested in the story, to me that is a sign of success when an author can achieve that. This book is well written as was George Berstein's Trapped, it has believable characters and I love the eye for detail in the dialogues. You have to read it for yourself, it is well worth the investment.

#Fantasy #ReviewShare Echo in the Underworld by Brietta Tatro @BriettaTatro

Echo in the UnderworldEcho in the Underworld by Brietta Tatro
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What were the main relationships explored in this book? There’s Persephone, Echo’s younger sister and it is easy to think that the core relationship of the book is family. To this reader, the core relationship was the one Echo had with herself. She needed to trust herself more and not second guess her abilities.

What I liked about the book … Echo is full of emotion and is fascinating from start to finish. She’s so easy to like and feel what she is feeling. Some things about the story are predictable and at some points it was amusing to see that every time Echo sort of had things figured, things would sort of go topsy turvy again. This is well-written book with an imaginative setting that deserves all the five-stars it can get.

Favourite character(s) … Echo is obvious but I also liked Samuel. Once again the author toys with the sibling angle (Agnes) in the story but I also feel these relationships were put in place to function as mirrors so readers are able to see weak versus strong and which one of the two siblings were prepared to risk more.
